Cross Faction Fun

I was inspired by The Game Dame’s post about cross faction pvp and interaction.  It reminded me of an encounter just the other day while I was on my way to grind on the spore guys reputation in zangarmarsh, while flying across the zone, yes I have made it to level 68 now and flight form iz the pwnz…lawl…anyway, someone was taking the beacons and just had to see who it was out of curiosity.  So, I flew over to the east beacon and noticed a lonely level 64 blood elf paladin standing there on her goofy looking ostrich mount thingy…sorry, don’t mean to offend you blood elfs out there and your crazy looking mounts, but come on, an ostrich?

I made it a point to float above her for a good 10 seconds and she targeted me, but I wasn’t pvp flagged so I swooped down and flew through her and made my way to the west beacon which was already flagged as horde.  I scoped it out and landed on the backside of the little building there and went into cat form and had track humanoids on, I sat there for a good 5 minutes when all of a sudden, flash, I was hit with something, I turn around and it is the pally, I think her name was Yola, but I might be wrong, it kind of surprised me, so I used a lifebloom heal and went into bear form and charged her from on-top of the building, this is where the fight gets a little monotonous and it seemed like it lasted for a good 10 minutes, I swear, basically it went down like this…

She hits me over and over, I am in bear form, I get my health down to about half and root her, heal, I get her health down to about 10 percent and she bubbles, heals, I spam moonfire and she bubbles, I go back to tank her and I keep her health down to about 25 percent for a few minutes and she uses a bubble, I root her and I heal myself, I run out of mana and stay in druid form running back and forth with barkskin on as I regen enough mana to go back to bear form, she tries her hardest to do some damage, but just isn’t enough, eventually I root her and do a /sigh emote, she pats me I guess cause I am in bear form like I am her pet or something, so I do a /laugh and then decide to try my luck in the water, go down deep, into the water where she can’t stay for long like I can with water form, I know it is cheating but I am tired of this ongoing battle and want it over finally, so I back up to the waters edge and go water form, she stands on the shore, slowly gaining hp, so I decide to try to moonfire spam her to death, it finally seemed she ran out of her freaking bubbles and heals and stands there and dies….wow, I didn’t think it would end, but it did, by this time a level 70 human warrior shows up and I told him I battled her for a good 10 minutes, he laughed and said good times, she respawns, not sure if she is suicidal or just crazy, anyway I am sitting there and the warrior charges and begins to pummel her with blows I just watch and it took him about a minute and she went down again.  Out of curiosity or principle I had to stay and capture the damn beacon at this point so I went back up top on the building into bear form not knowing if this crazy blood elf pally would try to take me on again, well she respawned but right out of my line of sight, so I flew over head of her and stood next to her as she drank and ate, no words said, I just /waved, then /hugged, she did the same and I flew away and it was over, she left for good.

I don’t spend much time in the battlegrounds anymore, which I do enjoy some good healthy PvP because I feel it presents me with much more of a challenge then some computer AI could ever come up with and because it is just plain fun.  These world pvp encounters are  a lot fun and bring a whole new aspect of adventure to the game for me.  I hope you enjoyed reading this tale as much I enjoyed telling it, surely there will be more to come in the future.

Interesting tale from a PvE server, that’s for sure. I gotta give her kudos for taking on the level 70 warrior, just because she knew she was gonna be dead.

I agree about the challenge of PvP over AI mobs. I guess what I lack is experience in fighting people. That is, I think it takes entirely different tactics to play PvP vs. PvE, especially on a hybrid like my shammy. I’ve read stories about shammies taking down classes that give me the hardest times (druids, hunters) and I always say to myself, “Wow, I would’ve never thought of doing that.”

I guess I need to roll a toon on a PvP server and get my teeth sharpened out there…
