My next gaming pc

As some of you faithful readers might know I have what you could call an outdated computer for gaming…it is an HP zd8000 I bought it for my last deployment to Iraq in the spring of 2005.  At the time it was the top of the line of what they had to offer and still today isn’t terrible, but with the release of directx 10 support in LotRO I am now really itching to upgrade…I have been looking off and on for months and I still am not close to being able to afford it, but damn it, I can still look :) .

Anyway, I have narrowed down my pick to a machine from cyberpowerpc.com.  I have read quite a bit reviews about them and the prices can’t be beat for what you get.  The customization is what really gives me that warm fuzzy feeling.  The exact machine is still up in the air, but right now I think the Gamer Ultra SLI Pro is in the lead.

I won’t get into the specifics here about the build, but as you can see I am looking at getting an Athlon 64 X2 processor, 4 gigs of ram, 2 NVidia 8800 GT video cards, the coolermaster case is dare I say pretty rad :) , I probably won’t opt for a custom color since it would blow my budget and I have experimented with painting cases on my own if I ever wanted to do that.

By the time I get to actually making the purchase there most likely will be something better out there, but right now this would do nicely.  In the past I have tried to keep the cost of a complete system upgrade under $2000 but at the same time get the most bang for the buck.

Anyone else have any suggestions?
